Just completed my 4th 1/2 marathon. I love running (mostly walking) marathons. Marathons aren’t just about body fitness, but mental strength as well. And it’s impossible to explain the exhilaration I feel crossing the finish line. As we passed the miles on Saturday I kept seeing signs that read, ” Pain Is Temporary, Pride Is Forever.” That pretty much sums it up for me.
It’s especially fun to run a marathon with a good friend. This is the 3rd time Natasha and I have run the Country Music Marathon. Honestly I really slowed us down this year. The run was the day after my birthday and as much as I knew better I’m sure the 4th glass of wine did not help my performance any – but it sure was a great night!
Our trip back to the marshes took us through one of my favorite southern towns. Athens, Georgia. It’s a great college town overflowing with creativity. It warmed my heart to see construction workers busily applying their trade to the Georgia Theater and even though The Globe was out of Shiner Bock (I know!) I enjoyed lunch with my good friend RyLee Madison.
Our paths couldn’t have crossed in a better place. The weather was perfect for walking around and checking out all the shops. Jeff and I picked up an outdoor rug for the balcony at Helix. Love that shop!
RyLee, just released “I Wish” to radio. Send some love her way and check it out here. She also made that fabulous bag she is wearing, all from salvaged materials. It’s wearable mixed media art!
