I got the idea to look back over my 2011 projects from Hi SugarPlum, a fantastic blog that takes you through Cassie’s DIY adventures.
In a year full of so many blessings it’s fun to do a little time travel. Every piece I do has a special place in my heart, but this first one I haven’t blogged about yet and the rest got the most attention on my blog.
My favorite piece comes from my first quarter at SCAD (Savannah College of Art & Design). The composition is a section of the still life sculpture in our classroom. The idea was to convey form and space. It’s all done with dry mediums, mostly conte crayons.
I love the work I do on vintage suitcases and was honored to create a collage featuring my grandmother on the her own suitcase. This is what she used during her last visit to the hospital.
This piece was a commission for a barbeque restaurant just outside of Savannah. It’s fun to do a piece for a commercial space… because I can go visit it anytime I want.
This was a really special piece for me. The idea came from listening to a song written by the person it was for…
I made this as a special gift to my “mother-in-love”
Thanks for a fun year of creative sharing!!!
Happy New Year! All the best in 2012.
