Trees have rooted themselves in my dreams lately and as an extension into my art.

Apparently trees tend to show up in dreams to highlight ideas of permanence and attachments.  This makes sense, we’ve been talking a lot about our next move.

“The true meaning of life is to plant trees, under whose shade you do not expect to sit.” – Nelson Henderson

The Tree of Life has many meanings across many cultures.  My dreams are full of curled branches and gnarly roots that extend deep into the ground and connects the earth with the heavens.  For me, these trees seem to represent connection and I love the idea of creating art from images springing from my dreams.

This piece starts with a background of text from Withering Heights layered with papers and tissue to build the tree.  I added a few layers of paint and some stamping and finished with beeswax.  I love the finished piece.
